Review of "Defenestration of a Dying Mammoth - aLive 2012" by Beard Rock
Doom has come and we have finally managed to reconquer our own blog back! As you see, the layout has disappeared. It shall look shitty for a moment until someone finds time to create a new sexy look for it.
A lot has happened since the last post 10 months ago, and all information is readily available from our facebook site for those interested. I would like to recap the most notable events, however: Our major plans for the years 2012-2013 were flushed down the drain when Ilpo announced he would leave the band, which he did after our concert warming up Karma to Burn in Bar Loose, Helsinki April 11th. But the mammoth couldn’t be killed just like that! We made an OM-like show in Varjobaari, Tampere August 4th, with only the rhythm section and have since built up a new line-up. The NEW LINE-UP, Incarnation IV, includes the founding members Miksa and Roope, as well as Tuomas Kristola (mainly) on guitar and Elis Henell (mainly) on keyboards. They have been welcomed and the initiation rituals shall be proceeded with in a matter of days!
However, we had no need to revise all of our plans for world domination, and hence we have also published something: out of three live shows during Spring 2012 we compiled a live album, Defenestration of a Dying Mammoth - aLive 2012, which was released digitally September 26th. Johnny Park Avenue Records released it on the overtly hot and futuristic C tape format on our 4th Anniversary, December 21st. Check the record out HERE and also, if you like it and can spare a few coins, do us a favor and support us by either ordering the tape or donating something for the digital download! Btw., by ordering the tape you also get the free digital download, and in my opinion, I like the tape version better. Just check it out and get defenestrated!
Our second album that we have been much talking about, however, has still not been published. I need to go to studio once more to re-record some vocals and we hope to release it during 2013. Sorry for the delay.

I’ve to announce that we have been forced to cancel our show at the Oulu’s Nuclear Nightclub on 10.3. for various reasons. We are really sorry for those who were already looking forward to it… Please visit Nuke the previous night, though, as the great Mr. Peter Hayden is playing there!
For now the Elephants will concentrate on the forecoming record, but we’ll also try to book a few concerts for June and August. Keep checking the updates for fuzzy dates! (and if you want to help, feel free to contact us…)

Yo Bros, let’s a-roll low and slow… we recorded some of our new sounds last Sunday at our rehearsal sessions and decided to give you a little sneak peek medley on our new sound world governing the upcoming second album! So here you are, ladies and…. ladies: the new psychedelic space doom sounds of roaming on the desert somewhere in between reality and illusion.

Despite the long pause in updates here, the Elephants haven’t been laying around - rather we’ve been quite busy with arranging certain things for next spring. Things, that will be announced here and now:
We’re still performing at Klubi, Turku on 6th of January, though the event is no longer named a Desert Sound Night… we’ve got something bigger: the Night of Horror + Doom + Burlesque! We welcome everyone to watch horror movies and a little burlesque club show in addition to a few bands: us, Smokebender and Sons of Kings. That’ll be a blast! At least we are excited..
Also the date of our Oulu’s show has been changed again: Nuclear Nightclub’s Desert Sound Night will be held at 9th of March - be there and be stoned.
Here’s the big news (part I), though: the Elephants are entering studio in January on order to record our second album! Wait for a massive record to come out in the brink of Summer: we promise it to be in every way greater than the previous, we promise it will sound more like our name and we promise it is again something quite unique!
But, despite us releasing new stuff and everything, the band is going on hiatus starting from March/April as Miksa is leaving to study abroad for about a year. Do not get your hopes up, though, as that doesn’t mean we won’t be able to do any shows during that time - distance is merely a hindrance, not an obstacle.

Announcing live dates for spring 2012! Heed the Call of Fuzz and be there when the Elephant Prophets destroy the place…
Desert Sound Night tour will take place from January to March in various places, first of them being 6.1. at Klubi, Turku. Remember that date, as Sons of Kings will be bringing the apocalypse to the old capitol again. There will also be a third band, but that is yet to be arranged.
At 13.1. we will get stoned at Monttu, Pori. Electric Psychedelic Pussycat Swingers Club will be taking us all back to the desert and Supertzar will rock’n’rule the night!
We’ll be back at Oulu at 10.3. to make amends for this October’s canceled DSN at Nuclear Nightclub. The bands will be announced later.
More DSN dates to be announced, too - south, north and east! We will bring the fuzz to every corner of Finland..
Also, we will be performing at Varjobaari, Tampere with Riot Club at 4.2.! The entry is free, so fcukeen’ be there, drink-a-lot whiskey and bang your head for stoner rock!

We are very sorry to inform you that coming friday’s Desert Sound Night that was supposed to be held at Nuclear Nightclub, Oulu has been CANCELLED!
Hindu Gods of Love, who were supposed to headline the event, were forced to cancel their appereance and we were unable to book a replacing artist this fast.
We apologize for any inconvenience and promise to come back to Oulu the coming spring!

We are performing live at the HOAX! 2011 festival on saturday 24th September at Annis, Pori.. be there (or be square, hehe….)
Also check out the other bands: N.Pulut, SirCusCus, Mustahattuiset Herrasmiehet and Electric Psychedelic Pussycat Swingers Club AND come join on the stage, as both in the beginning and at the end of the event there will be OPEN STAGE JAM SESSIONS! Fuzz with us!
Uh-oh, should have updated many times already since the last update, but I’ve been quite busy and a bit lazy lately.. sorry, folks - and most of all, sorry to my bandmates!
To the point: the date for HOAX 2011 festival has been altered: it is now held on September 24th, i.e. a week later than we announced previously. What more, our debut album has been REVIEWED HERE! (only in Finnish, sorry folks - you can try el Goog translate, but I checked it out and the translation doesn’t make much sense…)
Also coming (once I get myself to it): some pictures of our album release party AND audio both from the record and the show at Jyväskylä - I’m going to upload the audio into our myspace, but I’ll put a link here once they can be listened there.
